Innes Ward
The Christchurch City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 16 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the city). one councillor will be elected from the Innes ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Audit the build of new properties across the city, ward by ward, to understand whether communities have the amenities they need.

    Investigate re-establishing the Christchurch City Council Regulations and Consents Committee to regularly report back to the council as a whole.

    Undertake an urgent review of building consents and urban design processes to improve the consistency of decision making.

  • Ensure enough green spaces in intensified areas and that parks and reserves are well tended to provide amenity nearby.

    Support localism so that social and commercial infrastructure are nearby and on public transport route, enabling stronger communities.

    Work for better housing intensification design and retention of more trees and continue the housing trust to deliver community housing.
