Innes Ward
The Christchurch City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 16 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the city). one councillor will be elected from the Innes ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Actively promote the diverse and colourful makeup of Christchurch and Banks Peninsula, celebrating the exciting mix of many ethnicities as the area grows.

    Hold an Open City event each year to showcase the whole city, involving influencers, well-known Kiwis and famous Cantabrians.

    Reopen the Dux de Lux. This not a 'policy' but this key part of ChCh has languished too long. We need the Dux to be reopened ASAP.

  • Identify more green spaces around areas of over intensification and support community groups who wish to contribute to gardens.

    Retain and maintain public libraries, pools, community centres, parks, reserves and volunteer libraries.

    Support sports organisations and volunteers running youth, sports and cultural programmes in the community.
