Why I'm standing

For 30 years I have taken a keen interest in creating community hubs spanning sports clubs, the Victoria Theatre and arts festivals which have brought people together. Social interaction is vital to mental well-being and I believe my involvement with the local board would enable me to make a broader contribution.

About me

I have 50 years in aggregate of governance experience and am familiar with dealing with diverse personalities and forging agreement. As an independent candidate I believe that I could ensure a good balance within the local board team and get things done. As a chartered accountant I would add financial discipline as I have done with all organisations with which I have been involved and whose finances have improved during my tenure.

My priorities
  1. Safeguard a healthy outdoor environment and ensure that community spaces are active and well-patronised.
  2. Enliven town centres through social initiatives to make the local area an attractive proposition.
  3. Create efficient transport corridors with effective public transport, roading and cycleway options.
