Mayor of Kāpiti
The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the district and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing
We've achieved so much over the past three years, but there's more to do. I look forward to continue leading a council which works positively together. Kāpiti is growing fast, and we need to be working hard to ensure our new residents have the services they need and we provide quality infrastructure. We've strengthened our finances and we need to continue to do that while working to reduce rates rises.
About me
I work hard to bring people together to work in a positive way. 18 years as an elected member has given me a depth of understanding and experience I bring to every discussion and decision. My background as a musician has given me the ability to work hard towards goals. I'm out and about in the community, and I believe in working together to achieve the best for Kāpiti.
My priorities
- Look after finances and work hard to find efficiencies so we can reduce rates rises.
- Set and deliver the infrastructure needed for growth.
- Deliver quality community services so residents can enjoy a high quality of life.
