Wānaka-Upper Clutha Ward
The Queenstown-Lakes District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 11 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). four councillors will be elected from the Wānaka-Upper Clutha ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Local authorities are at the forefront of efforts to respond, with responsibilities for environmental planning and regulation, as well as civil defence.     Ensure Wanaka Airport is a strategic lifeline in time of emergency.

    Support the formation and operation of community resilience groups throughout the district.

  • Encourage and work with C.D. Community Hub. Keep the public informed to cope with any C.D emergency.

    Support initiatives of Wao and their like as they help guide decisions by their extensive research and development.
