Wānaka-Upper Clutha Ward
The Queenstown-Lakes District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 11 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). four councillors will be elected from the Wānaka-Upper Clutha ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Advocate for a two-lane Albert Town Bridge with room to grow.

    Avoid progressing a Wanaka Airport masterplan until the community feels the process has been fair and a rough consensus has been achieved.

    Put pedestrian crossings on the agenda for outside the Wanaka Community Hub and along Anderson Road.

  • Halt any nice-to-have cycleways and tracks in that area until funding is available.

    Prioritise parking in central Wanaka and increase off-street parking to ensure vibrancy and attractiveness of the centre.

    Resolve problems around Wanaka airport to make it a sustainable link for regular flights.

  • Complete intersection improvements in Wanaka, eg Golf Course Road and Ballantyne Road roundabout.

    Complete the Wanaka Airport Development Plan.

    Negotiate a regional deal that gets NZTA to be more innovative with transport solutions in Queenstown.
