Rangiora-Ashley Community Board

Rangiora Subdivision
The Rangiora-Ashley Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Waimakariri District Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of eight members. Members are elected to represent different subdivisions within the community board area. Six members will be elected from your area. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Make policies that assist private businesses to create amenities required by all local people, ie 24 hour medical centre.

    Promote building necessary infrastructure in a timely and efficient manner.

    Promote policies that reduce local unemployment.

  • Continue to make Waimakariri District an attractive and profitable place to establish a business.

    Encourage more people to move to the district to boost the economy. Sustainably accommodate 14,000–17,000 new homes into the future.

    Support Enterprise North Canterbury, Mayor's Taskforce for Jobs and others who are improving the local economy and helping job seekers.

  • Promote the district positively to encourage local business owners to employ local people, helping to improve and grow the local economy.

    Advocate and support more participation from the youth community to help foster local economic development as they are future leaders.

  • Encourage youth participation in the development of the town centre.

    Support the development of the Rangiora Library and civic precinct as already too small for the population.

    Support the work of Rangiora Promotions and ENC in promoting the town and district.

  • Promote Rangiora as a tourist destination utilising the existing rail network.
