Rangiora-Ashley Community Board

Rangiora Subdivision
The Rangiora-Ashley Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Waimakariri District Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of eight members. Members are elected to represent different subdivisions within the community board area. Six members will be elected from your area. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Create a mix of all-weather sporting facilities where practical.

    Promote community events that show the community in a good light.

    Support community facilities and encourage their use by as many people as possible.

  • Expand the Rangiora Library to meet growth as the main library for 65% of the district and develop fit-for-purpose access to technology.

    Investigate use of Mainpower Sports hub and look at growth plans for the future.

    Promote non-smoking in public parks and venues.

  • Support excellence for all facilities so everyone can use libraries, pools, parks, museums, sports facilities and other community venues.

    Support the revamp of the civic precinct and extension to the Trevor Inch Library.

  • Enable sporting and community events on council properties. Require minimal funding to effectively support groups who are hosting events.

    Encourage greater diversity and inclusion from all corners of society to demonstrate that this is a safe and supportive district to live in.

    Maintain existing pools, parks, museums, libraries and community centres to acceptable standards.
