Selwyn District Council

Selwyn At Large
The Selwyn District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of ten councillors and the mayor. This election is for the two councillors elected by all voters in the district. The other councillors will be elected to represent wards (areas in the district). This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Selwyn District Council election.

Why I'm standing

I am running for at large councillor because I believe our communities need a good choice of candidates at this election. There is massive change in Selwyn District Council this election, 80% of councillors are not running for re-election. I believe I have reasonable experience from my three years serving on Malvern Community Board to support our brand new councillors that will be elected in October. Please join me to work together for our future.

About me

I have over 40 years experience working on major construction projects. I have served as an elected member on Malvern Community Board as the member responsible for finance. I am a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors and have completed their training courses on governance and finance. I run my own business and my workload is flexible to make the time available to be an effective councillor.

My priorities
  1. Reduce rate rises.
  2. Review water services company.
  3. Support representation with community boards across Selwyn.
