Selwyn District Council

Selwyn At Large
The Selwyn District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of ten councillors and the mayor. This election is for the two councillors elected by all voters in the district. The other councillors will be elected to represent wards (areas in the district). This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Selwyn District Council election.

Why I'm standing

As a lifelong Selwyn resident I'm deeply committed to our community, which has been repeatedly overlooked. Rising costs and unsustainable debt and growth threaten our fixed income families and elderly, burdening future generations. I'll fight for transparency, sustainable budgeting and inclusive policies to protect venerable residents and curb debt. Through my policy and proven strong leadership I'll ensure Selwyn's future thrives, so our grandchildren inherit a vibrant, affordable and safe community we can all enjoy.

About me

I am a dedicated community focused individual with a passion for enhancing Selwyn's vibrant lifestyle. My strong communication skills and collaborative approach ensure I listen to residents concerns and advocate for inclusive solutions. With experience in shaping local policy and a dedication to community projects, I will prioritise infrastructure and economic feasibility for everyone. My proven track record of business management will reinforce my deep understanding of Selwyn's unique needs and identity.

My priorities
  1. Stop the spend, lower rate increase and rein in spending on operational expenses.
  2. Start the mend and fix the trust that has been eroded from the water CCO and representation review decisions.
  3. Provide true transparency with all council decisions and eliminate the public excluded meetings.
