Why I'm standing

SDC is plagued by financial mismanagement and has lost the trust of the community. I have followed council closely for four years since PC69 in Lincoln. I have observed costly mistake after costly mistake, ignoring of community feedback and decisions that lack judgement. The Water Services CCO debacle convinced me I must stand. It encapsulates all that is wrong with SDC. I want to apply my financial skills and critical thinking to get things back on track.

About me

I'm good with numbers and data, with 30 years experience applying those skills – essential in getting costs back under control. I have experience managing a $100 million budget and have completed the Institute of Directors courses in governance and finance. I'm pragmatic and solutions focused – not just identifying problems but working constructively to fix them, whilst not being afraid to ask the hard questions or say no. I can dedicate the time this role requires.

My priorities
  1. Review all budgets, cut waste and increase efficiency to improve affordability and value for money.
  2. Improve accountability and transparency through better scrutiny, stopping rushed decisions and genuine consultation.
  3. Deliver pragmatic solutions for roads, water and waste, ensuring the basics are done well with efficiency and discipline.
