Why I'm standing

I’m running because I’m tired of watching our council make bloated promises, hide behind consultants, and pass the bill to ratepayers. Every year we’re told costs must go up, services must get more complex, and the public should stay quiet and trust the process. I don’t buy it — and I don’t think most people do either. I’m here to bring clarity, courage, and strong decision-making back into local government.

About me

I bring grit, problem-solving skills, and lived experience. After the Canterbury earthquakes, I helped over 500 families fight insurers and EQC, standing firm when systems failed them. As a structural engineer, I solve complex problems through teamwork and clear thinking. I’ve built life from scratch in New Zealand, and dealt with bureaucracy firsthand. I know what it means to live to a budget, persevere, to listen, and to act. I’ll bring that same resolve to serve and represent our community.

My priorities
  1. Cap rates by limiting household rate increases to inflation to protect families from rising costs.
  2. Cut waste by stopping funding vanity projects and focusing on essential services and value for money.
  3. Restore transparency by ending secretive decisions and explaining spending in plain words to earn public trust.
