Why I'm standing

I believe WDC is a high achieving organisation delivering for its residents and I want to see that maintained. I am a sitting councillor proud of my achievements over 14 years' service in local government. I believe I make a difference to the community and offer a balanced view at the council table. I am opposed to party and team politics and do not belong to a political party.

About me

I am a former lawyer and have lived or worked in the district for over 40 years. I hold several company directorships and have extensive local government experience. I was first elected to the Kaiapoi Borough Council in 1980 aged 26. I am a long-time member of the Institute of Directors and have worked with many community groups locally and nationally. I was awarded a Queen's Service Medal in 2019.

My priorities
  1. Support additional sources of funding for local government to allow sustainable and affordable rates.
  2. Lobby central government for rates on Crown land and to share GST on growth with councils.
  3. Support localism in decision making.
Current role

Kaiapoi Woodend Ward Councillor. Roading Portfolio holder.
