Waipā District Council

Te Awamutu and Kihikihi General Ward
The Waipā District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 11 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). three councillors will be elected from the Te Awamutu and Kihikihi ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Ensure pest control is a priority to encourage the increase in native wildlife.

    Ensure streams, lakes and mountains are protected.

    Ensure waste is minimised and recycling is a priority.

  • Continue to build and assist with recycling and waste management and continue council funding and planning.

    Continue to promote the Waipa e-waste and battery collection at Pak n Save each month for Urban Miners.

    Support creation of a future recycling centre and cyclic culture along the lines of the Raglan operation.

  • Commit and support water quality and management through Waikato water done well.

    Investigate Waipa waste minimisation for improvements in especially the Te Awamutu Kihikihi general ward.

    Support Waipa biodiversity and pest control initiatives.
