Te Awamutu and Kihikihi General Ward
The Waipā District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 11 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). three councillors will be elected from the Te Awamutu and Kihikihi ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Continue to support creation and building of pensioner housing in suitable locations with partner organisations.

    Coordinate more closely between Waipa Council, central and regional government on regulations and requirements necessary to develop new housing.

    Simplify and speed up building consents issued by Waipa District Council and operate to a strategic plan for future development.

  • Ensure intensifying housing uses high-quality building materials and design sympathetic to existing neighbourhood houses.

  • Commit to common sense use and regulations for urban spaces and streetscapes.

    Commit to rationalisation of Waipa land supply and zoning. I have been an RMA commissioner previously.

    Commit to simplification of the building consent process.
