Te Awamutu and Kihikihi General Ward
The Waipā District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 11 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). three councillors will be elected from the Te Awamutu and Kihikihi ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Continue support for local Christmas parade, Anzac and Armistice days and local festivals.

    Ensure the council supplies enough playing fields for all sporting codes and encourage sport and recreation for all local residents.

    Support community, local arts and cultural programmes and displays and promote increased support for local organisations and support groups.

  • Increase event spending to improve liveability.

    Maintain high level of investment in amenities such as libraries, pools and museums to maintain current level of liveability.
