Why I'm standing

I am concerned that Riccarton is beginning to be overrun and new proposals in relation to housing intensification projects are narrow-mindedly being based now on more of a numbers game. I believe that the character of Riccarton and its visual heritage is now facing a somewhat disrespectful overtaking of its constituents' wishes. To me it seems clear, in the case of Riccarton housing, that the public participation spectrum has been unjustifiably dishonoured and dismissed.

About me

The main asset I personally bring to this role as a community board member is my actual experience of 55 years of living and working solely in each of these wards Riccarton Halswell and Hornby. As I will be making decisions for not only Riccarton but this combined area, then my long-term knowledge acquired of this area gives me a strong understanding and grounding towards making common sense decisions on this particular community board.

My priorities
  1. Honour and uphold the wishes of Riccarton residents in regard to housing intensification.
  2. Check legal discrepancies regarding the degree of public consultation toward housing intensification.
  3. Stop the continuation of unnecessary raised platforms and speed bumps throughout Riccarton.
