Mayor of Wellington
The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the city and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing
I love Wellington, but it is fast becoming unaffordable to not only live in but also to do business in and we need to change this so we bring back the positivity and vibrancy we once had and get back to being the coolest little capital around. The WCC needs to take an enabler approach in everything we do and become a welcoming place for all.
About me
I am a lifelong Wellingtonian who after a very successful 18-year career in the financial markets started my own business "Kaffee Eis" 21 years ago and have grown it into a multi-million dollar business with 30 staff. We are an importer, manufacturer, wholesaler and distributor. Through this experience I have learnt the value of money, how hard it can be to earn it and the importance of spending it wisely.
My priorities
- Ensure value for money by setting KPIs on all procurement and delivery to ensure best practice is used.
- Rebuild confidence and pride in our city by ensuring honesty, transparency and integrity in all we do.
- Promote employment opportunities by working with businesses to remove barriers and stimulate growth.
