Mayor of Wellington

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the city and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Wellington City Council mayoral election.

My Vision for the City 2050

Why I'm standing

My job, if elected as mayor, is to help build a more resilient, liveable and affordable Wellington.

About me

I have a long record of service as a peacekeeper, a police officer, a city councillor, and a Justice of the Peace for 23 years.

My priorities
  1. Set out a budget that will pay off Wellington's debt within 20 years.
  2. Instruct the chief executive to carry out a complete review of council staffing.
  3. Employ AI to give ratepayers access to decision-making and spending allocations on a daily basis.
