Henderson-Massey Local Board

The Henderson-Massey Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of eight members. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Henderson-Massey Local Board election.

  • Ensure Henderson-Massey has the much needed funding for the needed infrastructure to support the rapid growth in the area.

    Advocate for green spaces and parks as intensification grows to meet the demand of the growing population.

  • Better connected communities through investing, preserving and maintaining our green spaces, playgrounds, community hubs and sports facilities.

    Advocate for better transport and water infrastructure to meet increasing housing growth.

    Support strategic networking of key stakeholders through community-led safety planning to provide wrap-around services to help those in need.

  • Handle the rapid housing intensification that our area is going through.

    Reinforce and improve infrastructure to cope with the housing intensification that has happened so far.

    Make sure our area maintains plentiful green space that can handle our growing population.

  • Try to ensure the land zoned for housing is unsuitable for agriculture, (Pukekohe is an example of bad zoning in my opinion).

  • Advocate for more attention to the growing problem of street parking created by the growing housing intensification in West Auckland

    Support more public green space being a requirement in new housing developments.

    Support affordable housing options for seniors and first home buyers in west Auckland

  • Fight for the needed infrastructure (water, wastewater, stormwater and transport) to support the rapid growth in the area.

    Continue to advocate for sports, open spaces, and recreation needs in high growth areas.

    Work with council-controlled organisations, Kāinga Ora and private developers to develop sustainable housing that promotes togetherness.

  • Support better Infrastructure for new housing developments in West Auckland.

    Increase housing availability for homelessness.

    Ensure there are maintained parks and green spaces around new housing developments.

  • Deal with the rapid housing intensification currently taking place in our area.

    Tackle issues like street parking due to intensive building.

    Ensure developments have public green space around those intensive buildings.

  • Ensure our quality of living is not diminishing due to intensification. We need investment in our infrastructure and transport options.

    Advocate for the increase in parks, trees and park facilities due to the intensification in the area.

    Support quality design standards and providing good amenities for new developments.

  • Be strict, stand up to government and consent to what we need, even require off-road parking for dwellings, EV charging, and wider roads.

    Plan. have green zones, places where we can farm and grow our produce, that is protected from development with rate incentives in place.
