Henderson-Massey Local Board

The Henderson-Massey Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of eight members. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.     Local boards are the enabler, not the doer, provide the sporting facilities and the community will run the festivals.

  • Continue to upgrade council facilities to meet the needs of the Henderson Massey Local Board area's rapid population growth.

    Provide free access for seniors and children at West Wave Aquatic Centre.

    Construct an all abilities playground in the Henderson Massey Local Board area for people with disabilities.

    Advocate for better sporting facilities that encourage healthy lifestyles.

    Encourage a range of festive events and concerts that better connect and unite our diverse community.

    Advocate for the increase in park numbers and park facilities due to the intensification in the area.

    Support/empower communities to run their own events. These events are crucial in building communities.

  • Fight for a new swimming pool complex in Northwest.

    Advocate for the enlargement of The Pacifica Arts Centre, more community space for Pacifica groups and for a Pacific Business/Creative hub.

    Prioritise the building of an all inclusive playground in West Auckland.

  • Increase the number of bus stops at Northwest, so that people can get to the library even if they have no car.

    The Trusts, in my opinion do a good job in restricting the proliferation of Liquor licenses.

  • Support a diverse range of events to bring us together as a community (cultural, musical, social, sporting).

    Identify where we need more sports and recreational spaces, and make sure there are facilities that cater for many types of recreation.

    More high-quality play spaces that are accessible, for all abilities and all ages, and that have water facilities, toilets and shade.

  • Ensure funding is available for the maintenance of all public facilities.

    Ensure more competition available for the sale of alcohol out west.

    Ensure funding is available for public events.

  • Protect our parks, libraries, community facilities and recreation facilities for use of all. Need another aquatic centre out west asap.

    Grow the wonderful community development partnerships out west. Make our streets safer through good design and working with and valuing people.

    Support our sport and recreation groups with good facilities. Recognise waka ama rowing as a valued sport in the west.
