Why I'm standing

I believe Auckland Council needs to get back to providing the services it was originally responsible for and work for our residents and ratepayers. Listen to what we as ratepayers need and want, work logically not ideologically and towards future-proofing our communities. Get rid of the egos and and the deadwood, the wasteful spending, be accountable to its shareholders - us, the ratepayers. Be transparent and it will pay dividends via positive community involvement.

About me

I have lived on the coast for eight years but have a long association having holidayed here as a child and owned properties. My experience is a few committees - Plunket/daycare and sports, fundraising etc. Having been self employed, running a large household often taking in waifs and strays to help out. My experiences with council over many years has given me the drive and commitment to push for change within the ruling hierarchy. Question question question.

My priorities
  1. Advocate to get our rates spent back in the communities from whence it came.
  2. Footpaths where there are none, widened where there's room and fix our roads. Better public transport.
  3. Push to complete projects now, not delay those approved and funded as in the Orewa seawall/Penlink.
