Ahuriri Ward
The Napier City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 12 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the city). Two councillors will be elected from the Ahuriri ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.     Support the tourism industry as it gears up to welcome back cruise ships.

  • Tourism is a big part of our city's income and promoting Art Deco and other events to gain tourist dollars is important.

    Important infrastructure such as water, sewer and green spaces are major roles of council and a huge expense to upgrade.

    Looking after local business and assisting local investors to continue with growth and employment of youth keeps us fresh.

  • Fix Napier's roads in a quick, efficient and cost effective manor. Some of the roading projects seem to take far too long to complete.

    Support tourism ventures as this is good for Napier. Bringing more tourists to the region will help all local business and job creation.

    Encourage large companies to move to Napier as this will create more work for our community.

  • Post covid we need to support our local tourism sector to rebuild and local small businesses as they are critical to our economy.

    Napier needs a new pool and library to be built as soon as possible – it has taken too long.

    We need policies that support our youth to thrive and remain engaged with our community.

  • Actively work with Tourism Hawke's Bay to regrow tourism and recover from the effects of Covid-19.

    Promote large and small scale events for residents and to attract tourism.

    Promote active recreation and sport, improving facilities and maintain growth in this area for health, wellbeing and economic gains.
