Nelson City Council

Central General Ward
The Nelson City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also passes local regulations and makes decisions about infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage, and about the region’s resources, including water, soil and the coastline. The council is made up of 12 councillors and the mayor. Four councillors will be elected from the Central General ward. The other councillors will be elected from other wards or by all voters in the district. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Nelson City Council election.

Why I'm standing

I want to contribute balance, empathy and experience to the council with a progressive mindset. I have the skills to really encourage collegiality among elected representatives. I have energy and enthusiasm to bring to the role, and am committed to a brighter more sustainable future for our community in these complex and stressful times.

About me

After twelve years on council, I have the energy and commitment to help bring people together, and to provide much needed continuity and experience around the table and in the community, to make this the best place in New Zealand to live. I have owned and operated a national business for more than thirty years, and have been recognised for my contribution to the music industry in Aotearoa.

My priorities
  1. Continue to make housing council's immediate priority alongside climate crisis response.
