New Plymouth District Council

New Plymouth District At Large
The New Plymouth District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 14 councillors and the mayor. This election is for the five councillors elected by all voters in the city. The other councillors will be elected to represent wards (areas in the city). This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the New Plymouth District Council election.

Why I'm standing

I have noticed in the past few years that our beautiful city/towns show cased what a wonderful place it could be. My major concerns is the values of grass roots and infrastructure deteriorating. I wish to bring old fashioned values of community spirit and support small businesses and utilise our resources that we already have.

About me

I am a straight up hands on, down to earth, honest and caring person whom puts people before myself. Born and lived in New Plymouth all my life. Serving as an apprentice engineer at Port Taranaki Qualifying. A union delegate for many years. Built my home alongside builders when required. Have been in business around 40 years. Developing two childcare commercial properties. In those years employing around 15 – 20 staff.

My priorities
  1. Save our three waters. and putting all of our assets into a cooperative. Stop water meters.
  2. Financial Revamp. Paying Back Debt. Cutting down expenditure.
  3. Replace/repair ageing Infrastructure. Adding New Infrastructure.
