New Plymouth District Council

New Plymouth District At Large
The New Plymouth District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 14 councillors and the mayor. This election is for the five councillors elected by all voters in the city. The other councillors will be elected to represent wards (areas in the city). This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the New Plymouth District Council election.

Why I'm standing

I don't believe the real voices of our community are reflected in council decisions. I believe an audit of council spending is desperately needed. I would like for our district to be one that our youth come to to raise a family and work, at the moment they are leaving to pursue their careers due to lack of opportunities. I would like full transparency from our council.

About me

I am a strong business woman with robust problem solving skills and ample governance experience. I have a head for numbers and a passion for policy and procedure. I love our community and want to be able to live here for many years to come, at this rate I doubt I, or the generations after me will be able to afford to. I believe in our community and I want to help.

My priorities
  1. Making sure that what is heard from our community is reflected in council decisions.
  2. Minimising expenditure, an audit of current costs and eliminating unnecessary spending to reduce rates.
  3. Immediate infrastructure needs sewage leaks, water restrictions, roading mitigate future issues.
