The Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of seven members. Members are elected to represent different subdivisions within the local board area. Four members will be elected from your area. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Use non-lethal methods such as trap-neuter-return or contraceptive bait for unwanted animal control.

    Promote schools taking part in environmental restoration programmes, starting with their own campuses.

    Reduce council car parking and convert to green space where possible, or to sustainable development.

  • Support pest plant and pest animal control programmes such as the moth plant pod competition and also trapping programmes for rats.

    Support the Transform Manukau Programme, which includes the restoration of the Puhinui stream.

    Promote food and green waste collection to reduce waste, with the goal to move to a circular economy that minimises waste.

  • Increase use of stormwater treatment devices and wetlands to treat runoff prior to discharge into our natural waterways.

    Reduce pollution by investing in alternative transport infrastructure such as public transport, shared user paths and bike lanes.
