Puketāpapa Local Board

The Puketāpapa Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of six members. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Continue to support local environmental initiatives such as Friends of Wairaki Stream conservation work in Mt Roskill.

    Support the introduction of more options for recycling and encourage the use of biodegradable packaging for use at council.

    Provide more funding and resources to develop Puketāpapa's green spaces with native trees to attract biodiversity to our natural areas.

  • I agree with Three Waters and developing wetlands and reducing the run off to the harbour.

    I think developers need to control their pollution better especially run off from subdivision.

  • Promoting the advantages of electric cars.

    Understand the effects of climate change locally.

  • Advocate for resources and work with mana whenua and local communities to restore all our waterways including Te Auaunga/Oakley Creek.

    Recognise Manukau Harbour to be a significant cultural, ecological, social and economic taonga and support The Manukau Harbour Forum.

    Ensure that there are places in Puketāpapa that people can go and appreciate nature. This contribute to the general wellbeing of our people.

  • Invest in education programmes that support local pest management.

    Incentivise all producers of waste, including commercial and industrial, to reduce, reuse and recycle.

    Oppose the forced amalgamation of Auckland's water resources planned under the Three Waters approach.

  • Working with mana whenua in protecting our natural resources and funding climate solutions across Puketāpapa.

    Funding water testing in Te Auanga and Wairaki Stream to source and prevent pollution.

    Increasing funding to community groups that manage pest control and weed management.

  • Continue work to increase the tree canopy of Puketāpapa in alignment with the Urban Ngahere Action Plan that I helped pass this term.

    Enable our conservation volunteer groups to do their best work restoring our environment, waterways and biodiversity.

    Work with local and external organisations to encourage better waste practices in our community, especially events and businesses.

  • Fund water quality testing for Te Auaunga and Wairaki Stream to identify where and when pollution incidents happen.

    Continue to support community groups with pest and weed control, alongside increased council investment into this process.

    Work with mana whenua to develop restoration plans for natural environments such as Te Auaunga, Waikōwhai and the Manukau Harbour.
