Puketāpapa Local Board

The Puketāpapa Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of six members. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Advocate for a fair approach to zoning, protecting heritage and special character while advocating for good quality housing intensification.

    Support urban planning for accessible neighbourhoods for people to be able to walk to parks, shops and transport hubs.

    Advocate for more affordable and social housing initiatives to alleviate; the shortage, homelessness and affordability, of houses.

  • Ensure that the building consents that council approves are of the highest standard and encourage transparency in council contracts.

    Continue the great work of Kāinga Ora and look for ways where families and communities can stay together in the same area, if they can.

    Protect and develop community green spaces so that residents can enjoy the place in which they live and local flora and fauna can thrive.

  • More effectively consult with local communities to improve quality, and increase awareness of building developments in their neighbourhoods.

    Make it easier to build and refurbish houses by improving the efficiency of Auckland Council's consenting teams.

  • Continue to advocate strongly for opening zoning around public transport stations and arterial routes.

    Advocate for increased mixed-use zoning in suburbs to allow residents to be able to walk to their local shops.

    Work with Kāinga Ora in their plans for the Roskill development to ensure there are accessible houses and well-planned neighbourhoods.

  • Scrutinise large-scale housing developments to advocate for better connected, quality urban designed spaces, and more sustainable development.

    Use my background in architectural design and urban planning to work with community members to understand a move to a quality compact city.

    Ensure there are provisions made to suit our community members and groups in future development such as public facilities and services.

  • Keeping Kāinga Ora and Piritahi in check.
