Puketāpapa Local Board

The Puketāpapa Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of six members. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.     Commit to ensure fees are not a barrier for lower income families to the Cameron recreational facility.

  • Better creative opportunities for young people in the neighbourhood.

  • Ensure there are enough and the right sort of spaces to support our growing community needs.

    Investigate ways that existing spaces and new proposed spaces can house a range of valuable community services.

    Advocate for better conditions on alcohol licensing to reduce the risks of alcohol harm, especially around schools and youth centres.

  • Continue funding extra hours for the Mt Roskill Library and advocate for the expansion of the Mobile Library Service.

    Support Auckland United's work towards refurbishing their old clubrooms as an indoor sports facility.

    Advocate for further investigation into the future expansion of Cameron Pools to meet the increased demand due to population increase.

  • Help decrease the number of liquor stores in Puketāpapa.

    Help increase community events which will lead to a better, connected, and stronger community.

  • Increase hours at Mt Roskill Library and support its initiatives like the Mobile Library service and presence at local events.

    Work with local sports groups like Auckland United to encourage youth participation.

    Support the funding of more events like night markets, and using our public spaces for events like the lantern festival or food trucks.

  • Ensure that Puketāpapa's green spaces have adequate lighting, health and safety standards, and facilities like drinking fountains.

    Ensure that alcohol shops follow licensing and signage requirements in order to provide goods to our community in the safest possible way.
