Rangiora-Ashley Community Board

Rangiora Subdivision
The Rangiora-Ashley Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Waimakariri District Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of eight members. Members are elected to represent different subdivisions within the community board area. Six members will be elected from your area. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Strengthen our stock banks further due to weather patterns. Invest in further planting to strengthen banks on all rivers in North Canterbury.

    Support our farmers to preserve our rich rural farming land.

    Stop the spraying of our skies in North Canterbury to meet government agendas on climate modification.

  • Promote grey water recycling and rain water collection on both current and new buildings.

    Continue native planting along waterways and in rural and urban areas to encourage biodiversity and protect our waterways.

    Encourage people using water bores to monitor their water quality and support initiatives that reduce nitrate contamination of our aquifers.

  • Protecting our precious drinking water and safely managing wastewater and stormwater.

    Encouraging even better reuse and recycling. We have amazing second-hand shops and excellent resource recovery. Let's make that even better.

    Continuing to sustainably develop and improve our world class recreational facilities, making Rangiora the envy of other NZ towns.

  • Commit to protecting and growing our native bee populations in our district.

    Promote investment or partnership to establish a local recycling facility, for recycling, not currently able to be recycled regionally.

    Promote an investigation of the feasibility of community working bees for establishment/maintenance of any new reserves.

  • Encourage a permanent soft plastics recycling centre along with the ability to recycle items that are currently unable to be recycled.

    Support local schools and ECE garden program initiatives and help improve reduce, reuse, recycle efforts within our kura.
