Rangiora Subdivision
The Rangiora-Ashley Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Waimakariri District Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of eight members. Members are elected to represent different subdivisions within the community board area. Six members will be elected from your area. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Say no to housing density. Fight government overreach on this in rural towns. Three storeys, no consent, evades privacy, escalates crime.

    YES, to logical zoning. Expanding Rangiora in line with services, jobs and facilities. Creating open spaces for creation and outdoor pursuits.

    Create affordable housing for local service workers and first-time homebuyers to create a balanced community.

  • Restrict housing development in flood prone/low lying areas.

    Consider building on piles, if building in low lying areas, so houses can be moved in the future if need be.

  • Advocate for good quality housing with an emphasis in stamping out dampness and cold so everyone can have a dry, healthy home in our community.

    Engage a community voice that considers sustainable growth as the District Plan progresses.

  • Promote continued investment and development council housing to above government healthy living standards.

    Promote and investigation of the feasibility of a rates rebate for over 65's and single parent households.

    Promote the establishment of a ratepayer funded portfolio with the intent of the earnings rebated back to contributors as a rate rebate.
