Rangiora Subdivision
The Rangiora-Ashley Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Waimakariri District Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of eight members. Members are elected to represent different subdivisions within the community board area. Six members will be elected from your area. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Support the council employing/contracting local people and businesses as much as possible.

    Consider initiatives to encourage youth to obtain a full driving licence to expand their employment opportunities and reduce risk of fines.

  • Encourage and facilitate more fairs and events within the district.

    Promote investment or partnership to establish a local recycling facility, for recycling, not currently able to be recycled regionally.

    Promote the establishment youth internships in the council.

  • Our town is growing from the small farming hub of the 1850s to a large and diverse community. These are exciting times to live in Rangiora.

    I want to see our acceptance of diversity in all its forms continue, while retaining our friendly farming town character.

    We've seen a lot of new shops and businesses open here. I'm keen to attract more, while supporting our small to medium-sized family firms.

    Encourage local business owners to employ local job seekers and to consider initiatives to promote local youth job opportunities.

  • Support local businesses with a buy local campaign. Encourage shopping on our own doorstep with a loyalty card and rewards.

    Encourage businesses to offer apprenticeships to youth and support travel to educational facilities to support off-job training.

    Support the creation and strength of our local story and diversity in North Canterbury as a local tourism location.
