Campaign to increase the number of councillors in this ward to two. It is an enormous ward geographically and environmental liability wise.
Actively participate in the government review of local government form and function. A time of change needs new ideas.
Give voice to community needs and communicate the implications of council policy without any hidden agendas.
Open discussion on changes to democratic processes around the transition to a resource based economy. Emphasising it's voluntary foundation.
Invite community input into goals, issues and anticipated challenges to democratic resource based economy model.
Consider ISO9000 type philosophy/methodology to socioenvironment arena. Discuss adoption of new equitable and sustainable operating systems.
Begin with honest engagement. No more Long Term Plans that fail to disclose expected levels of spending.
Shrink the building expectations in line with actual staff numbers rather than build castles in times of financial crisis.
Stop funding Local Government New Zealand that has become nothing more than a government propaganda pusher rather than local voice advocate.
