Te Awahou Foxton Community Board

The Te Awahou Foxton Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Horowhenua District Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of seven members: five members elected by voters, and two councillors from the Horowhenua District Council.  This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Lobby for Foxton Pools Option one rebuild to begin work as soon as possible.

    Have the Foxton War Memorial Hall ownership returned to the community via the newly incorporated society once due diligence has occurred.

    Support operational control of the Foxton War Memorial Hall being handed over to the incorporated society as soon as possible.

  • Develop the Foxton Rugby Club facilities to expand to other sports codes.

    Resolve the current Community Hall situation with some clear decisions.

    Investigate the possibility of an annual music festival.

  • Support community and iwi aspirations and outcomes to enable a thriving, inclusive and resilient community.

    Work hard to get local backing for the appropriate redevelopment of the Foxton Pool and other local facilities.

    Safeguard the Manawatū Estuary's Ramsar site, momentum of the Holben/Te Wharangi Reserve Concept Development Plan and the dune garden.

  • Create more family spaces, youth spaces, that cater to all whānau and the many visitors that visit the area. Enhance what works!

    Protect all assets for the future of the community and ensure that parks and reserves set aside are maintained for their initial purposes.
