Waiheke Local Board

The Waiheke Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of five members. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Advocate for a youth forum in our community, especially in relation to climate change, social justice, racial equality and gender issues.

    Create citizen science and mātauranga community, use the data to make decisions for our policies and plans that enhance our environment.

    Encourage more women into local government working together and having a voice, being supported in these positions.

  • We need to local boards to have more self determination and to really get local solutions to community issues. Locals know best.

    Keep local politics inclusive and kind. Encourage debate and public input and hold informal meetings to gauge opinions. Allow time for all voices.
