Wainuiomata Community Board

The Wainuiomata Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Hutt City Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of six members. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Advocate for native forest pest control and look to incentivise land owners who care.

  • Engage the community in nature preservation projects to create connection and pride for our people because we care about what we experience.

    Look at how the planting of native species could be incorporated into berms and households, not just council reserves.

    Support council in creating a food waste program.

  • Working with local kai groups to push for waste minimisation education to be taught to local schools.

    Ensuring local restaurants and business' work with groups like Kaiboosh or Wonky Box to minimise food waste.

    Continuing the support to push against 1080P.

  • We need to protect all water including our drinking water. We need clean waterways to swim in.

    We need do more for waste management and recycling we need to see if we can increase what we can recycle and reuse.
