Mayor of Wellington

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the city and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Wellington City Council mayoral election.

Why I'm standing

I love our capital city and have a huge sense of pride and positivity about Wellington's future. Many have asked me to return to local government to help put the mojo back into our city which has been going backwards in recent years. New leadership is needed to bring Wellingtonians of all views together as part of the solution for our future. I'm prepared to take on the challenge and put Wellington first.

About me

My vision is to restore the mana of Wellington as the capital city of Aotearoa New Zealand. People want leadership that doesn't play Wellingtonians off against each other. Leadership that's respectful and gets things done. A council that is unified to deliver and take on the challenges that put Wellington first. Together, we can put the mojo back into our capital city!

My priorities
  1. Listen to Wellingtonians who say: get back to basics and prioritise pipes, parks, pools and playgrounds.
  2. Deliver a blueprint for a generation of action based on masterplans focusing on affordable housing.
  3. Restore Wellington as arts, events and culinary capital. Celebrate cultural creativity and sporting skill.
