Why I'm standing
I'm concerned that Wellington is heading in the wrong direction and needs to reduce the cost of living here and to focus on making it safe to walk anywhere, especially in the CBD and public facilities. Council needs to focus on the infrastructure and giving good value for rates. Too much emphasis has been on focus groups and not on the majority of Wellingtonians.
About me
Five years ago, four of us established the Onslow Resident Community Association because we considered council wasn't listening to any of us or concerned about what the local issues were. I've been active in representing our residents in submissions to council and active in community activities. I don't believe there should be any party politics in council as councillors should be there to help Wellingtonians, not push a party ideology or agenda.
My priorities
- Stopping the irresponsible waste of money that council continues to spend and getting poor value.
- Focusing on repairing the infrastructure before any other projects.
- Capping the growth of council staff in areas that aren't for the benefit of all Wellingtonians.
