Wellington City Council

Pukehīnau/Lambton General Ward
The Wellington City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 15 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the city). Three councillors will be elected from the Pukehīnau/Lambton ward. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Wellington City Council election.

Why I'm standing

The current council is full of ideologists who want to dictate how we live our lives without actually understanding what makes our city tick. They are spending money on pet projects while neglecting our infrastructure. The golden mile project is a disastrous waste of money that will turn our inner city into a ghost town and will make operating a business in central Wellington untenable, while gridlocking the streets. Change is needed!

About me

After 18 years as a foreign exchange dealer I started Kaffee Eis in Oriental Bay and have over the last 18 years grown it into a well loved business. Having spent my entire life in Wellington understand the workings of our city and believe the council should be working for us. I believe all decisions should be logical, sensible and affordable and be in the best interest of Wellingtonians.

My priorities
  1. Stop the "Golden Mile" project. This will gridlock our streets, kill the inner city.
  2. Prioritise infrastructure over any new projects. Spend more on the unglamorous but vital things.
  3. Apply a "logical, sensible and affordable" approach to all decisions.
