Mangakahia-Maungatapere General Ward
The Whangārei District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 13 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). One councillor will be elected from the Mangakahia-Maungatapere ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Invite all ethnicities to participate in how we do things. Why should it be left to a few to make all the decisions.

    Retain council as it is for at least another two terms. We need a settling period to get a new dynamic operating properly.

    Ensure our staff are in one work space. Best results and efficiencies come from safe, well paid and happy employees = a stable workforce.

  • Ensure all council staff and contractors are paid a "living wage" before executives get a pay rise.

    Increase the governance and decisions from the elected council. Reduce unnecessary bureaucracy.

    I will visit individuals and groups of people, also using social media to engage with a wide variety of views when significant issues arise.
