Why I'm standing
I'm running because rates keep rising from short-term thinking. Your superannuation doesn't go up 17.5%, then another 10%, then another 10% after that. But your rates bill does. For people on a fixed income, that's not just unfair; it's completely unsustainable. You save for your future. It's time our council showed the same common sense. Instead, we get relentless rate hikes from short-term thinking.
About me
My background isn't in politics; it's in getting things done under pressure. As Deputy Chair of Dunedin Community House, I helped lead the response to a multi-million dollar repair crisis. As President of Brain Injury New Zealand, I united 13 different regions and won increased ACC funding nationwide. I have a proven track record of making the tough but necessary financial decisions and building the coalitions needed to deliver real-world results.
My priorities
- Lower rates permanently by creating a new non-rates income stream for the city.
- Pay back debt faster by finding 2 to 3% in annual savings with proven AI technology.
- Double community group funding because every dollar invested here returns massive social value.
