Mayor of Dunedin

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the city and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Dunedin City Council mayoral election.

Why I'm standing

The climate crisis threatens human extinction, rights like shelter and food are becoming investments for the ultra wealthy, and there is a rise in bigotry against our most vulnerable people. I feel I had to do something to fight this growing tide of catastrophes, and ensure the people I love like my god daughters have a world they can thrive in.

About me

I take the crises we are all experience seriously. I acknowledge that I am not a genius with all the perfect answers, and am committed to taking on the solutions the public want. I believe the vast majority of people are good and caring and recognise our true enemy is capitalism and falsely fostered bigotry.

My priorities
  1. Do everything possible as a city to prevent the climate crisis.
  2. Lower renting and punish abusive landlords to wipe out homelessness.
  3. Create a citizens assembly to give true electoral power back to the people.
