Lower Hutt City Council

Hutt City At Large
The Lower Hutt City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 13 councillors and the mayor. This election is for the five councillors elected by all voters in the city. The other councillors will be elected to represent wards (areas in the city). This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Lower Hutt City Council election.

Why I'm standing

I am standing for election because I want to see true equity in representation and ensure that the voices of communities who don't traditionally participate are heard. Too often, council decisions are made without the people most affected being at the table. My motivation is to make council more accessible, transparent and connected and where everyone belongs and decisions are made with our mokopuna and their future at the heart.

About me

I bring both experience and deep community connection. I have worked in local government for over 10 years and hold governance roles locally and nationally. Beyond this, I am actively involved in a diverse range of community groups, which keeps me grounded in the realities and aspirations of our people. I believe in inclusive, transparent leadership that puts community voices and values at the centre.

My priorities
  1. Champion equity and representation that is reflective of the community we serve.
  2. Protect our planet through bold climate action guided by indigenous knowledge and values.
  3. Invest in rangatahi by creating opportunities for leadership and voice in decision-making.
