Lower Hutt City Council

Hutt City At Large
The Lower Hutt City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 13 councillors and the mayor. This election is for the five councillors elected by all voters in the city. The other councillors will be elected to represent wards (areas in the city). This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Lower Hutt City Council election.

Why I'm standing

I am concerned about the engagement levels, consultation and communication coming from the current council. I want to see Lower Hutt thrive and believe part of that is taking people along for the ride rather than taking people for a ride. People need to feel involved in the decisions being made as involvement leads to a sense of pride and belonging.

About me

I was born in Lower Hutt and have lived here for most of my life. I have a strong combination of business and advocacy experience. I am used to dealing with and connecting with people from all walks of life. I communicate well and am not afraid to speak up. I get stuff done!

My priorities
  1. Review parking charges in Petone and central Lower Hutt to assess whether they have a negative impact.
  2. Encourage initiatives that promote housing security as residents benefit from stability and consistency.
  3. Ensure the Riverbank market is moved to an appropriate location and able to thrive.
