Kāpiti Coast District At Large
The Kāpiti Coast District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of ten councillors and the mayor. This election is for the elected by all voters in the district. The other councillors will be elected to represent wards (areas in the district). This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper.     Monitor coastal erosion to understand the effects of sea level rise.

  • Support implementation of Council's environment strategy.

    Support implementation of the regional Whaitua strategy.

    Work with community groups to establish Predator Free Kapiti.

  • Continue to support a safe, accessible and connected walking and cycling network.

    Support community environmental restoration groups to protect biodiversity and support pest and plant control.

    Support individuals to take action at home and at work to reduce carbon emissions and build sustainability and healthier lifestyles.

  • Actively lead Pest Free Kapiti community projects for all Kapiti while supporting Ōtaki Community Board in launching PestFree Ōtaki 2026.

    Champion sustainable waste management as the sustainable waste management portfolio leader for six years and attract sustainable industry and technology.

    Protect the Waikanae River by ensuring the council is more transparent about the consents and reporting on consent compliance.
