Weaving a Stronger Nelson for 2025

Why I'm standing

I'm running for Nelson City Council to ensure a diverse and inclusive voice in local governance. I aim to address the needs of growing multicultural and vulnerable communities, who I believe are often marginalised. I aim to address the city's key challenges, including climate change, housing and infrastructure, by leveraging my experience in community engagement. My goals are to promote social justice, human dignity and to build a harmonious and inclusive city for all.

About me

My 35+ years extensive experience in community service including 15 years working within the Nelson City Council, as conduit between management and governance, makes me a strong candidate. I have a deep understanding of governance and a track record of advocating for marginalised groups, promoting social justice and human dignity. My commitment to inclusivity and whakataukī Māori philosophy, "Whiria te Tāngata—Weave the People Together" position me as a unifying and effective leader.

My priorities
  1. Weave the people together by advocating for inclusive, thriving multicultural communities.
  2. Mitigate climate change and its impacts on the city's infrastructure and natural environment.
  3. Ensure sensible spending on core services and transparent financial management and accountability.
