Why I'm standing

I came to Nelson in 2000, a young architect drawn by its unique blend of affordable urban living. Nelson's great climate and compact size make it an ideal place to live and thrive. While we face global challenges like housing affordability and climate resilience, Nelson has the resources and potential to tackle these effectively. With my vision and skills, I'm committed to helping our city grow sustainably and remain a vibrant, livable community for all.

About me

As an architect, small business owner and parent of three, I understand the challenges young people, families and local businesses face. Through my roles as branch chair of the Institute of Architects and PTA secretary, I've coordinated events and made committee decisions that required teamwork and balancing diverse stakeholder needs. These experiences taught me how to bring people together, navigate competing priorities and find practical, workable solutions that benefit the whole community.

My priorities
  1. Enable adapting of existing houses for self-contained units to provide affordable housing.
  2. Ensure resilient infrastructure to manage insurance and repair costs long term to address cost of living.
  3. Build an east–west cycle link for safe, low-cost, low-emissions travel and reduced congestion.
