Why I'm standing

I love Nelson. I was looking forward to retirement but was told and could see that we needed someone with outside-the-box, practical, affordable thinking and was told I should stand. It is a chance to give back to our community.

About me

Started my first business while at secondary school, dux of the school two years running, winner of local tourism and national invention awards. Self-employed electrician, farming, tourism, youth and volunteer work. I see solutions when others see problems. A good listener with school board, church leadership and various trusts experience. Married for 48 years. Best known as Magic Santa and for our Christmas lights and the M&M House.

My priorities
  1. Control rate rises as no ratepayer is happy with the cost or what it is spent on.
  2. Improve traffic flow to lower emissions and improve productivity.
  3. Listen to local businesses, find out what they need and implement solutions to revitalise the CBD.
