New Plymouth District Council
The New Plymouth District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 14 councillors and the mayor. six councillors will be elected from the Kaitake-Ngāmotu ward. The other councillors will be elected from other wards or by all voters in the district. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. About me
I am a chairperson of Hope Walk New Plymouth - Taranaki and I am very passionate about improving New Plymouth so our children and rangatahi have a more sustainable environment to raise their families in.
My priorities
- Reduce parking fees within the CBD and have coin-operated meters throughout the CBD.
- Increase free parking to three hours anytime throughout the day for all older people.
- Reduce rubbish going outside New Plymouth and use local businesses to do it better.
